SSP-2390 is a series of translucent heat-cured silicone elastomers. All compounds are shipped platinum pre-catalyzed and ready for immediate use. When specific conditions are met, SSP2390 compound series are FDA CFR 177.2600*, USP Class VI*, and RoHS compliant. They can be supplied as ready-to-mold compounds or as compression molded sheet stock and roll stock. This product has various durometer grades with typical values and can be supplied in a variety of colors including red, black, gray and white.
SSP2390 is formulated using inputs suitable for food contact applications under FDA 21 CFR § 177.2600*. Cured product has been tested per FDA 21 CFR § 177.2600 and meets requirements for contact with dry food and fatty foods.
USP Class VI Silicones
SSP-2390 silicones also comply with USP Class VI* requirements for compounds made from components with ingredients with clear histories of biocompatibility. The base material in SSP2390 series silicones meets USP Class VI requirements, but the pigments that are used in custom pantones need separate testing per color by the end user.
SSP-2390 silicone elastomers also comply with the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/E.
Platinum Curing vs. Peroxide Curing
Platinum cured silicone rubber has stronger physical properties and lower shrinkage values than peroxide cure compounds. In addition, SSP-2390 do not produce significant offgassing or catalyst byproducts. Download the Outgassing Report for details.
Ultra-Soft Silicones and Medium-to-Hard Durometers
SSP-2390 silicone elastomers are available in 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 durometers.
Molded Gaskets and Fabricated Gaskets
SSP-2390 silicones are supplied as a ready-to-mold compound or compression-molded sheet stock. SSP can also produce continuous rolls from .005 to .250 inches thick.
All SSP-2390 silicones are platinum-catalyzed and have an average shelf life of six months. Cold storage will extend shelf life. Raw materials are ready for press-cure molding.
Download the data sheet for tensile strength, elongation percentage, tear resistance, specific gravity, and cure profile for each durometer. MSDS information is also available, and SSP can supply additional information about individual specifications. Compression set data is available as well.
