PDMS Membrane Materials

Specialty Silicone Products Inc. (SSP) manufacturers polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membranes that provide a barrier to liquids and a permeable path to gaseous elements and compounds. SSP supplies these thin, highly-permeable, silicone membrane materials in sheets or continuous rolls with thicknesses ranging from 0.005” to 0.040”. 

USP Class VI and FDA Compliant

SSP’s ultra thin silicone membranes are both USP Class VI and FDA CFR 177.2600 compliant. Because our PDMS membranes use a platinum cure catalyst system, there’s little to no outgassing. By contrast, peroxide-cured silicones may yield catalyst byproducts that produce an unpleasant odor.

Applications for Ultra Thin Silicone Membranes

SSP’s PDMS ultra thin silicone membranes are used in laboratory experiments and medical research. These gas permeable / liquid impermeable thin films meet application requirements for a very thin silicone gasket or seal made from FDA or USP grade material.
