60-DUROMETER HIGH-STRENGTH SILICONE
SSP-2524-T is a 60-durometer (Shore A) silicone with high tear strength, low-temperature resistance, and excellent flexural strength. This heat-cured silicone compound is black in color and uses a DCLBP peroxide catalyst system.
A-A 59588, CLASS 3A, GRADE 60
SSP-2524-T has been tested to the flex-fatigue requirements in the A-A-59588, Class 3A, Grade 60 specification. The A-A-59588 standard from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) contains six alphanumeric classes or sections, but only Classes 3A and 3B include requirements for flex-fatigue resistance.
DEMATTIA FLEX RESISTANCE TEST
A-A-59588, Class 3A silicones with high flex-fatigue resistance must pass the DeMattia Flex Resistance Test, a dynamic fatigue test that measures crack growth in inches over thousands of flexural cycles. Typical flex-resistance values for SSP-2542-T are 0.26 inches per 10,000 cycles.
PEROXIDE-CURED AND POST-BAKED SILICONES
SSP-2524-T silicones are peroxide-cured, a robust technique that’s also cost-effective. Because peroxide cure silicones aren’t inhibited by amines, tin compounds, latex, or urethanes, they’re a good choice for military and aerospace applications. To prevent bloom, SSP post-bakes all peroxide cured silicones.
READY-TO-MOLD COMPOUNDS, SHEET STOCK, AND CONTINUOUS ROLLS
SSP-2524-T silicones are supplied as ready-to-use uncured compounds, compression-molded sheet stock, or continuous rolls. Raw materials are available catalyzed and ready for compression molding and HAV curing.
