SSP-2529 is a 68-durometer, nickel-aluminum EMI silicone that provides galvanic corrosion resistance and has been tested to MIL-DTL-83528F.

Nickel-Aluminum Silicone Shielding Elastomers

SSP-2529 is filled with nickel-coated aluminum particles for superior galvanic protection and effective EMI shielding in marine environments. Compared to other EMI elastomers, nickel-aluminum silicones provide the highest shielding effectiveness after long-term age testing. These particle-filled elastomers also have low transfer impedance and are extremely reliable as flange gaskets.

Galvanic Corrosion Resistance

SSP-2529 was tested for galvanic corrosion according to ASTM B117, a standard from ASTM International for operating a saltwater spray (fog) apparatus. Testing involved 168 hours of salt spray exposure at 95° F. The material under test was aluminum 6081 with a chromate conversion coating per MIL-DTL-5541F. The weight loss was 0.08%.

EMI Shielding Effectiveness

SSP-2529 was tested by a third-party laboratory according to MIL-DTL-83528F, a recent version of the MIL-DTL-83528F standard for elastomeric shielding gaskets. The minimum attenuation level was 93 dB at 10 GHz and the best-case attenuation level was 135 dB at 80 MHz. During product testing, a sample was subjected to controlled compression at 10%.
