Silicones That Meet Military and Aerospace Requirements

Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) supplies M83528 gasket materials and a full line of silicones and fluorosilicones that meet military and aerospace requirements. Specifically, SSP provides compounds that are fully tested to MIL-DTL-25988C and A-A 59588 standards. Converters, gasket fabricators, and aerospace and defense contractors can also choose SSP compounds that meet SAE AMS 3326 requirements.
MIL-R-25988C Fluorosilicones
MIL-DTL-25988C is a U.S. military specification (MIL-SPEC) for fluorosilicones that resist oil and fuel. This MIL-SPEC divides compliant compounds into two classes: Type 1 for O-Rings, and Type 2 for molded parts, sheets, strips, and extruded shapes. Within each Type, there are different Classes. For example, Class 1 compounds are for general-purpose use. Class 2 materials are high-strength, general purpose elastomers.
This table describes MIL-DTL-25988C fluorosilicones. These products meet the requirements of MIL-R-25988C Type 2, Class 2. All fluorosilicones are peroxide-catalyzed, heat-cured, and supplied as ready-to-mold compounds or compression-molded sheet stock.

* SSP-083 also meets SAE AMS 3326 requirements for fuel and oil resistant fluorosilicones.
A-A-59588 Silicones
SSP supplies heat-cured, peroxide-catalyzed silicones that meet the requirements of A-A 59588A, a General Services Administration (GSA) specification for commercial items. AA 59588A supersedes ZZ-R-765E and divides compliant compounds into different classes and grades. For example, Class 1A and Class 1B silicones resist low temperatures. Class 2A and Class 2B materials provide high temperature resistance.
This table describes SSP’s A-A 59588 silicones. These materials are supplied as ready-to-mold compounds or compression-molded sheet stock.
