Medtech Materials at MD&M West (Booth 557)

FDA/USP VI Silicones
SSP’s 2390 series of medtech materials are high-purity, platinum-catalyzed silicones that are FDA CFR 177.2600, USP Class VI, and RoHS compliant. These ultra-clean elastomers are available in 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 durometers (Shore A). They are supplied as ready-to-mold compounds, custom sheet stock, or continuous rolls from .005 to .250 thick.
SSP’s FDA/USP VI silicones are platinum-cured for high-purity applications like medtech. Platinum-cured silicones have stronger physical properties and lower shrinkage values than peroxide-cure compounds. Moreover, platinum curing does not produce off-gassing or catalyst byproducts. SSP’s FDA/USP VI silicones are translucent, but custom pigments are available.
Silicone Membranes and Lab Products
SSP’s polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membrane materials are also platinum-cured for high purity. These thin, highly-permeable, silicone membranes are supplied in sheets or continuous rolls with thicknesses ranging from 0.005” to 0.040”. All PDMS silicone membranes are USP Class VI and FDA CFR 177.2600 compliant, making them ideal for laboratory experiments and medical research.
Visitors to the SSP booth (#557) at MD&M West will also find a wide range of lab products such as caps, septa, and sealing mats for 96 and 384 well plates. All septa products are made from high-quality silicone rubber and PTFE films under strict quality control procedures at SSP’s ISO 9001-2000 certified manufacturing facility in Ballston Spa, New York (USA).
EMI Shielding and Other Medtech Materials
SSP’s line of medtech materials also includes EMI shielding for medical devices and equipment. As part of SSP’s Specshield™ family of EMI RFI silicones, these electrically-conductive elastomers contain metal or metal-coated particles that combine electrical conductivity with protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI) or radio frequency interference (RFI). Silicone provides excellent environmental sealing and resist a wide range of temperatures.
Specshield™ elastomers are available with different particle-fills, including cost-effective nickel-graphite for strong, reliable EMI shielding and silver-like conductivity. These SSP elastomers can include conductive fabric reinforcements for added strength, or use chemical-resistant fluorosilicone as the base material. SpecShield™ elastomers include nickel-graphite, flame-retardant EMI silicones that meet UL-94 V1 requirements.
